Guide to PE Refining

What is PE refining?

PE refining is a mechanic in the game that allows to use raw PE from cargo and refine it in order to afterwards trade it for various goods.

Getting started

Your first step to refine PE is getting PE boxes.

At the start of a shift, there should be a crate with a few PE boxes in Extraction. It is advised to use this box to increase how many PE boxes you can carry around.

To get more PE boxes, you can buy them from the Corporate Trade Console in Extraction for 50 PE each.

Refining proccess

The refining area in information department.

Upon reaching information, you will see the refining device in the image displayed, near it are filters. Put PE box inside the refinery machine and it will start refining the box. After some time, a refined PE box will be produced.

You can speed up the lengthy refining process by adding filters to the refinery while it's processing a box. When a box is inserted, it will display a filter strength, which you need to match by using filters. There are Blue, Green, Red and Yellow filters, each worth 2, 3, 6 and 10 refining strength. Simply add filters until you match the strength. However, if you go over the filter strength, the box is lost. Information starts with a few filters, but you can buy more at the Corporate Trade Console for 10 PE each.

PE Boxes usage

Once you have obtained refined PE box, you have two choices on your hand.

Primarly, Refined PE Boxes will be used at the Power Inputs (sometime referred to as Gacha) in Extraction. Simply use a refined PE box on a Power Input to send it away. After a delay, this will reward the facility with 100 PE (50 more than the price of a box) and leave a small amount of Ahn to be taken for your effort (this is one of the only sources of Ahn!). These Power Inputs will also reward you with crates depending on who you send these boxes to, after meeting their individual quota (such as sending 3 boxes to R-Corp). These crates can be opened with a crowbar and reward you with unique weapons, outfits, armor and tools depending on its source. Note that every shift, only 4 of the 18 Power Inputs will be available, so not all rewards are available at the same time. Refer to the table below for a list of possible items.

Else, you can give your Refined PE Boxes to your Company Representative (if present), allowing them to perform researches which unlock one time rewards for your fellow members to use. Bare in mind that with some minor exceptions, these researches are 1 time only rewards and cannot be researched again. You can also give regular PE Boxes if you are in a hurry, but they are only worth half as much to the Representative. Refer to the Company Representative page for a list of researches available with PE Boxes. Lastly, the Company Representative get it's own Power Input, so do not hesitate to request supplies from them with your Refined PE Boxes.
