LC13 Rules

General Rules

  1. Don't be a dick.
  2. Do not distribute (yourself or by proxy) illegal or adult material.
    • Do not engage in ERP, in-game or otherwise.
  3. Do not use slurs, or fictional slurs or gestures based on real slurs or gestures.
    • Be that real or fictional or unlawful in the US & the EU.
    • Do not use an account name that is offensive or breaks core rules.
  4. Do not evade punitive actions or sanctions by staff in any way, including using multiple accounts.
  5. Do not ask staff to overturn the rulings of other staff. If you disagree with a ruling - file a staff complaint.
  6. Do not advertise anything without senior staff permission.
  7. Do not use non-English languages to communicate.
  8. Do not grief or deathmatch before the round-end report.
    • I.e. not on the in-transit shuttle.
  9. Do not use bugs or exploits. When in doubt whereas something is an exploit or bug - ahelp
    • This refers specifically to bugs listed here: Known Bugs and Exploits
    • Do not abuse any Respawns for benefits, such as duping loadouts.
    • Maintainers may proactively designate game behaviour as a bugs.
  10. Do not share or use in-character information of the current round posted outside of the in-game IC chat, including on the Discord server.
  11. Your character must be believable within the universe of Library of Ruina.
    • A special exception is made for the names generated in Lobotomy Corporation, listed here: List of Lobotomy Corporation names.
    • This rule extends to having a reasonable level of apprehension towards entities such as abnormalities or distortions and roughly following the politics of your faction.
    • Characters, or parts of them such as names, dependent on reference humour are at the liberty of the staff team and may be sanctioned without prior warning.
  12. Roles listed as Bold in the Occupation menu/listed as Command on the manifest are held to a higher standard of play.
    • You should enter play with the expectation of seeing at least the majority of the round through.
    • You should be ready to engage with other players and particularly any "departments" or "areas" you are in charge of.
    • If you have questions or need to leave super duper early, staff is always reachable by ahelp to free up your slot again.
  13. Do not harm the overall round progression or meaningfully interfere with others' play unless your role is antoginistic in nature (if in doubt, ahelp).
    • This non-exhaustively includes purposefully triggering dangerous events (prematurely) or unduly benefit from the work of others without permission.
      • Seriously just please ask each other if you grab something others worked hard for.
  14. Do not make references to other gamemodes in-character except by vague allusion.
    • Refrain from "[Player Character] beat Apocalypse Bird!!!" as Hana Administrator, for example.

Precedent Rulings

Rule 9 Precedents

  • Barricading abnormalities into their cells with the specific intention to indefinitely prevent their breaching is considered an exploit.
    • Temporarily putting down barriers for a single battle is fine. Permanently welding the door shut is not.

Rule 10 Precedents

  • This rule also forbids metagaming, i.e. using the information others might share out of the game.
  • On gamemodes with Respawns enabled, players have continuity of memory between respawns; That means you know how and why you died and can talk about it in character.
    • This notably still does not include any information gained while being a ghost/observer, which falls under meta knowledge.

Rule 13 Precedents

  • Registered Fixers are forbidden from looting/stealing from other Registered Fixers and are heavily discouraged to act maliciously towards others in the first place
    • Bodies that are DNR/Soulless unrevivables are fair game; The player has changed what character they play.
    • This synergises with Rule 11 Precedent 2: In the spirit of this, the same character is entitled to their corpse. Someone starting to play a different character thus removes said looting protection.
  • Rats may steal or loot from people unless they have become a Registered Fixer, in which case the above takes priority
  • Going out of your way to maliciously steal from others in cooperative game modes is actionable by admins.
    • This includes taking ALEPH/expensive/rare EGO if you have not contributed to it in a meaningful way without asking first.
      • Seriously just please ask each other if you grab something others worked hard for.

City of Light 13 Rules

Rule 0: Keep it MRP

  • This gamemode has a elevated standard of roleplay: Staff are encouraged to approach you if your style of play is seen interfering with that.
  • In addition, "Keeping it MRP" means that players are expected to follow the rules of your faction and faction leader.. Expect IC retribution for breaking faction rules. When in doubt, ask and learn.

Rule 1: No Spawncamping.

  • Killing any player as soon after they spawn in, regardless of role, is not allowed.
  • Killing any player in the first 5 minutes of any round, regardless of role, is not allowed.
  • To provide a fair environment, killing any of the following roles before they are in gear is not allowed:
    • Antagonist faction players
    • Association faction players
    • Carnival and Backstreet Butchers

Rule 2: Random Deathmatch Rules

  • All combat must be properly escalated.
    • Your character must be able to justify their actions to their superior should the need arise.
  • The following roles have looser engagement standards and may be more liberal:
    • Blade Lineage Ronin
    • Nagel Und Hammer
  • The following roles are not required to properly escalate or be escalated against:
    • Rats (Free for all)
      • Rats that join another faction (I.E. Nagel Und Hammer) are beholden to RDM rules.
    • Carnival and Butchers (while in uniform)

Rule 3: Ocean body removal

  • Do not purposely throw (dead) bodies into the ocean.

Rule 4: Base Destruction

  • You need abundant, sufficient in-character justification to permanently maliciously alter/damage a factions' base.
    • You may be approached by a member of staff due to the severity of this action. If so and done with enough cause, simply explain the chain of events.
